Do helmets work? What can I expect for my baby?
Take a look at some of our before and after scans! They can give you an idea of how the head evens out with helmet therapy. Many parents are initially concerned with the back, but flattening in the back of the head also affects the front, specifically the facial bones. See in the images below that the head is able to grow into the mold of the helmet, correcting the back and the front!
These photos show the initial, 3D scan on the left, and on the right is the same child a few weeks later after helmet therapy has started. Towards the top of the screen is the front of the head, and the towards the bottom is the back of the head. The next image will show detailed measurement and the initial scan is outlined in red, the post treatment in blue outline. For a detailed post on cranial measurement, stay tuned! One will be posted later this week.
Do you have a great before and after scan from OMI? Or from another helmet clinic? Pictures help uncertain parents understand the difference a helmet can make. Post below or share with us on instagram @OMIKIDDOS or Facebook @OrthopedicMotion. #beforeandafter #cranialscan #starscanner
